Your True Astrology Sign
From LoveToKnow Horoscopes
Are you interested in finding your true astrology sign? For most of the general public, astrology involves using their birth date to figure out which of the major twelve zodiac signs they fall under.
Do you read about your zodiac sign and feel like the description doesn't match up to who you are? In astrology, there are many other aspects that can have a stronger influence on a person than just the date of birth. The rising sign or the midheaven can have a great effect on a person's true astrology sign. The houses and phases that each planet falls into can also greatly influence a person's true sign.
Natal Charts
A natal chart is the number one place that you should start if you are interested in learning more about your own personal sign or you're beginning a deeper exploration of astrology.
The chart is an account of the planets at the exact moment a person was born. When having a natal chart created, a proper birth time and birth location are necessary to get the most accurate reading. These are essential to calculating the proper angles on the chart. Birth charts can be constructed without these aspects, but they may sometimes lack the clarity that charts with these elements can provide.
Sun Sign
The sun sign is the most familiar aspect of astrology and refers to where the sun was during your birth. Historically, it has also been referred to as the star sign. The sun signs are the twelve signs (Aries, Taurus, etc.) of which people are most commonly aware.
While the sun sign can be the most important aspect of a person astrological life, that is not always the case. Many people have rising signs or planets in certain houses that can affect them as much or even more than their sun. Are you one of those people? Keep reading to learn more!
Your True Astrology Sign: Three Things To Help You Find It
There are three important elements in natal charts that can help you find what astrological sign you are more closely related to. These elements are:
- The Rising Sign
- The Midheaven
- The Houses
While each of these portions of an astrological chart are closely related to one another, they are crucial to finding out more about yourself through astrology.
Rising Sign
The rising sign (or ascendant) is the sign of the zodiac that was on the horizon at the moment of your birth. To construct an accurate rising sign, a birth time is necessary. An approximate chart that can help you find your rising sign can be found at astrologyzine.com.
As far as birth charts go, the rising sign is located at the cusp of the first house. Many refer to the rising sign as what people show to the world. Whereas the sun sign is supposed to show what a person is at their core, the rising sign shows what they are to the outside world. Many believe that the way a person acts, thinks and has been conditioned to know are all related to his or her rising sign.
How To Work With Your Rising Sign
How your rising sign works into your chart can show you its affect. Rising signs remain for certain durations of time. Many rising signs rise for somewhere near the two hour mark. The closer to the beginning of that period, the stronger the sign will be. For example, if a rising sign of Cancer lasts from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m., a person born at 10:10 p.m. will be more affected by the rising sign than a person born at 11:55 p.m. This is often seen in the "degrees" of the sign.
It is also important to pay attention to which element the rising sign falls into. If your sun sign is in a different element than your rising sign, this may explain why you may feel unlike your sun sign. For example, if a Libra has an Aries rising, this may explain why they sometimes feel more hot-headed than balanced.
The Midheaven
In a natal chart, the midheaven (commonly abbreviated as the MC) is the cusp of the tenth house. Along with the ascendant, imum coeli and descendant, it is one of the most important four angles on the chart. It is located at the top of the chart and is the most outward portion of your life. The MC represents your career, social self and role in the world. If the rising sign is what you show to the world, the MC is what you are to the world.
How To Work With MC
The main role that the MC plays in determining which astrology sign you may feel closest to is that it can often dictate to some extent what you do in life. One of the most common complaints with sun sign astrology is that you will read the account of what you should do in life and respond by saying "But I would never like a job like that."
The MC takes this into account. For example, if you have an MC of Libra, it is unlikely you will ever be an accountant no matter what your sun sign may be. Figuring out what your mid-heaven is allows you to better understand your life path.
Houses in Natal Charts
In natal charts, the chart is created by a circle with 12 divisions. Each of these divisions corresponds to a different house of the Zodiac. Furthermore, each house corresponds to a certain value. For example, the 6th house (ruled by the sign of Virgo) is the House of Health.
How to Work With Your Houses
Even if you know very little about astrological charts, you can still use your houses to help figure out what sign you may be most like. One of the most common ways of doing this is just by looking at your birth chart.
Where do most of the planets fall? Are many of them in the same house? If this is the case, the house most of your planets fall into can show you which sign of the zodiac you may be most akin to. Even if your houses are evenly filled with planets, you can learn more about yourself by seeing which houses have no planets. If one of those happens to be the house of your sun sign, this can explain why you may feel more in tune with another sign.
