Taurus natives, born between April 20th and May 20th, have earth as their element combined with a fixed quality (the other qualities are cardinal and mutable). This gives us a good read on the basic Taurus personality traits.

Taureans offer a fixed outlook on life. On the positive side, this translates into a dogged determination to see their goals through to the end, and an inherent need to stick to their guns.

The negative side, however, is that this can be their downfall. Change does not come easy to Taurus. When their plans are disrupted, they do not find it easy to change course. Only after great deliberation, much of it silent and internal, do they finally decide to tweak their plans.

These are all second house and Taurean concerns. Taurus natives sometimes get a bad rap for their attitude towards money, since many view them as obsessed by it. The truth is, however, that they are not obsessed by it. Instead, they understand that they need money in order to achieve their dearly held goals.

Beauty

Ruling planet Venus bestows beauty and the thorough enjoyment of all five senses upon Taurus. The ascetics of life are not lost on this sign, and many of the things they do in life are guided by the principle of beauty.

Because of this, Taurus is a highly sensual sign, one that values the decadence of a double-layered chocolate cake, revels in the fragrance of expensive colognes and perfumes, and delights in the feel of cashmere lined gloves. If it feels good against the skin, goes down smoothly past the lips, and pleasantly pleases the palette, Taurus will love it!

This love of beauty can also be Taurus’s downfall. One particular Taurus personality trait it that of over-indulgence. Feeling sick to the stomach or carrying around an extra five pounds is not unheard for Taurus. As such, Taurus needs to learn and practice moderation in all things.

Stability

Safety, stability and security are extremely important to Taurus. Whereas the key phrase “I am” relates to firstborn Aries, the key Taurus phrase is "I have". Taurus wants to know that the mortgage is paid, the coffers are full and that there’s plenty of food to go around the dining room table. Love

Venus is Taurus’s natal ruler; therefore, love is a big part of the Taurus personality. It can also be a rather tricky subject for them. Here are Taurus’s sticking points and how to navigate them successfully.

  • Jealously: Jealousy can be a severe problem for Taurus. Whether a man or a woman, Taurus evaluates everything by the principle "I have". This can include their romantic partners. Prepare in advance for this by remembering that your partner is only human, and needs to be treated with dignity and respect.
  • Waiting: Few in the zodiac play the "waiting game" longer or better than Taurus. Unfortunately, as many a Taurus has painfully learned, this doesn’t always work out in their favor. Combat this by taking baby steps towards action. Ask for that phone number, send the email; just do something!
  • Stubbornness: Once you do” get the man or woman of your dreams, don’t sabotage it with your legendary stubbornness. Learn the art of compromise and ask questions; it will go a long way towards keeping your relationship happy!
