Serena's Guide to Divination
From LoveToKnow Horoscopes
Serena’s Guide to Divination is a website actually based on the astrologer of the same name.
About Serena
Although the website, Serena’s Guide to Divination, is quite popular, relatively little is actually known about the astrologer herself. What little information that is available simply states that she is an astrologer based in Australia who believes in all things mystical.
The main thrust of her autobiography states that she fully believes that "magic" is all around us, and that each culture puts their own stamp on this magic. Serena created her website in order to share these various ideas on mystical practices.
Serena’s Guide to Divination: Exploring the Website
As with all internet websites, Serena’s website contains its fair share of strengths and weaknesses. Here’s what you can expect.
Strengths
- Well Rounded
The site is rather well-rounded in the sense that it covers just about everything having to do with the mystical arts. Want to learn about reading the tea leaves? Check. Curious about Mayan astrology? She’s got that covered too.
In this way, one is able to find a little bit of information on everything from palmistry to the lunar cycles. There’s even a section of face and body readings.
- Fun Features
Speaking of fun, there are a few different ways one can pass away the hours on this site. Of particular interest is a feature called the "Free Inkblot Oracle Reading". To use this feature, visitors are instructed to think about a question and then click on "Go to the Oracle".
From there, click the "start" button and choose an ink blot either in color or black and white. Once that’s done, an ink blot appears that is supposed to reveal your answer. However, there is no written answer; the entire feature is psychological so the answer is left up to your interpretation of the blot.
- Contact Available
Perhaps the best feature of the site is the ability to contact Serena herself. This is a great feature because it’s not one that’s often seen on psychic/astrology sites. In this way, anyone who has a question or comment for Serena can simply send an email.
Weaknesses
Unfortunately, the main weakness with this site is a lack of depth. While it’s truly commendable that so much information is posted (for sure, no easy feat), perhaps it’s a little bit too broad because many of the topics could have covered in more depth.
For example, under the heading Lunar Phases, you'll find all the lunar phases listed and a few words on timing and the moon, but there is no further information about how the moon you're born under affects your personality. This is information you'd typically expect to find on an astrologer's website.
A Word on Free Readings
To the site’s credit, there are several free readings available. In fact, everything from a Free Quick Crystal Reading to a Free Biorhythm Reading is available, but once again, it’s best not to expect too much information. It's better to look at these readings the way you would a quiz or a fun slideshow.
Putting It All Together
So, what’s the bottom line on Serena’s Guide to Divination? It’s certainly a fun way to spend the time, and you can most certainly whittle away oodles of time trying to figure out what your "unconscious" is trying to tell you, but if it’s substance you’re after, it may be better to look elsewhere.
