Astrology Linda Goodman
From LoveToKnow Horoscopes
When it comes to astrology, Linda Goodman felt it was her duty to share it with the world. However, when it came to her own horoscope chart, she was intensely secretive.
The Astrology: Linda Goodman
There are a few reasons why Linda Goodman kept her birth date a secret, and a couple have to do with age. One, she insisted that she was over four hundred years old. Second, and perhaps understandably, she didn't want anyone to know her real age. That said, the general consensus about her birth date was that it took place in Morgantown, Virginia, on April 10th, 1925.
The Horoscope Chart
Linda Goodman, nee Mary Alice Kermery, penned many influential books about astrology. Based on the April 10th date, her chart is as follows.
Sun in Aries
While it's impossible to know her exact time of birth, we do know that Goodman has a strong, pioneering sun in Aries. Sun in Aries people are well-known for their independent nature. Additionally:
- Sun conjunct Venus: Venus not only bestows beauty (and Linda Goodman was very pretty), but also wealth.
- Sun square Jupiter: This aspect could account for Linda’s exuberance and over-the-top personality.
- Sun trine Neptune: Not only does Neptune rule dreams, but it also holds the keys to the collective unconsciousness. It’s quite possible that Linda Goodman could see into the future, or at least see patterns others could not. In a more mundane sense, this aspect would make her extremely visual and imaginative.
Moon in Scorpio
Linda Goodman’s moon in Scorpio made her intense, possessive and emotionally deep.
- Moon oppose Mercury: Mercury rules writing, speech and communication, and because Linda’s moon (emotion) opposed it, her writing would not reflect her high level of intensity. In fact, when one reads her books, what really comes across is her sense of wit and charm (sun conjunct Venus).
- Moon conjunct Saturn: Saturn gives one stamina and follow-through. Linda Goodman obviously had this in spades!
- Moon trine Pluto: This aspect lends a sense of depth, and this is easily seen in Linda Goodman’s many works. Combined with her moon conjunct Saturn, Linda truly built something that would "endure" throughout time.
Mercury in Taurus
Mercury in Taurus, along with a moon in Virgo, often denotes a propensity towards writing. Interestingly, Mercury was in retrograde when Linda Goodman was born, so perhaps she really was channeling the truths of the ancients!
- Mercury: Without a birth time, Linda Goodman’s Mercury makes no major aspects.
Venus in Aries
Venus in Aries is often flamboyant and intrigued by things that are new and refreshing.
- Venus square Jupiter: Linda Goodman may have made a ton of money, but she probably spent it just as quickly as it came in. This aspect may also explain why she was married twice.
- Venus trine Neptune: This aspect is one of searching for a soul mate, or at the very least having a very idealized view of love. We know from her books that Linda truly believed that her second husband was the love her life and her soul mate.
- Venus square Pluto: This is a very intense aspect when it comes to love. Wanting to fully possess someone and flying into jealous rages is very common with this aspect.
Mars in Gemini
Although her Mars makes no major aspects, Linda Goodman’s Mars in Gemini would have made her intellectually curious, nimble and energetically "quick".
Jupiter in Capricorn
Jupiter in Capricorn is ambitious and materialistic. Luckily for Linda, she had Jupiter sextile Uranus. This allowed her to ingeniously blend her love of ambition with an avant garde way of making money. Uranus also represents a love for humanity, so this helps to explain why she wrote to educate the world.
Saturn in Scorpio
Saturn in Scorpio shows the need to go to your very core of being; cleaning up any leftover excesses, so that what is produced is in its purest form. Saturn lessons are hard won, so once Linda Goodman’s lessons were learned, she may have left all those "excesses" behind.
- Saturn trine Pluto: This is one of the most enduring of aspects. A person with Saturn trine Pluto can get hit a thousand times and still get back up. This aspect is all about staying power.
The Generational Planets
All of the outer planets are what’s termed "generational" planets and they represent the lessons and/or tools a certain generation came here to teach the world. The astrology Linda Goodman wrote incorporates these aspects:
- Uranus in Pisces: Pisces represents the unknown and Uranus in Pisces means facing challenges that those who came before never had to face (Uranus rules inventiveness and technology).
- Neptune in Leo: This is all about making one’s dreams a reality.
- Pluto in Cancer: Pluto in Cancer strikes right to the very heart of home and family and a special love for both. It can also mean "ruling the roost" or being very domineering at home.
Final Lessons
The real lesson from the astrology Linda Goodman taught is that all of us have the ability to be "special". In fact, she tried very hard to show that being "special" is the norm rather than the exception. This is proven by Linda Goodman’s chart. Her chart, like many of us, had some great aspects, some mediocre aspects and some downright aggravating aspects! In short, the lesson is it’s not what you are born with that determines one’s life; it’s what you do with it.
